The State of the Union Review- Democratic Response

Boy what were they thinking about? First zero new ideas. Second, very weak response about SS. We know that the program is huge and the president just finished saying that 3 workers are paying for one recipient. So, Reid goes off on some exoteric explanation that just did not truly explain why he is against it. They ignore the attitude of most young people. Pelosi was just horrible. First she should seek a refund from her plastic surgeon (If it is Bell’s palsy please forgive me and consider prednisone and acyclovir). After the embrace by the two women and a deeply emotional moment she goes off on a left wing tirade about the War. It ignores what just happen and it ignores the pictures of the recent election. Even if she feels strongly about the issue she should be smarter; it is a non-winner right now. She should have adjusted her speech even if it was on the fly. It is like they had their message and are unable to adapt. Spell it out “we lost the election”. So why would you basically repeat all the same issues that Kerry used unsuccessfully. Get a clue!!!

Sadely I missed the State of the Union (I was in class). From reading your posts: As for international policy I am not to concerned that he didn't mention latin America (I think it is best if he publicly ignores it). Domestic issues, I still somewhat disagree with SS, and as far as most of Bushes other Domestic issues I do not support him, especially with his close ties to the religious right, and them dictating policy. As for the Democrates, well they are lost (a ship without a captin), they need to work very hard to find what their party really stands for.

Thank you for the comments. I agree that I would not mention Chavez by name, but at least acknowledge the region.

Thanks for your concern, but professors would not withhold your degree because they disaree with you. Plus my PhD has nothing to do with Venezuela, I'm in the biological sciences. Yes, hopefully we can meet up sometime.
